‘I often speeded up the time taken writing these by tying three pens together’. I found this an endearing memory of school punishment as a student attempted to speed up his line writing by joining multiple pens together. I wanted to develop my work away form using flat sheet so I designed this brooch to take on a constructed three dimensional form. I aimed to convey a somewhat beguiling, haphazard and handmade aesthetic as though the brooch itself had been tied together.
