This piece pays tribute to the pioneering women welders working during the First World War. The rosette form was inspired by the suffrage rosette ribbon worn during the campaign for women’s rights. ‘Working for victory’ is a line from the Four Vagabond’s song Rosie the Riveter who herself became a cultural figure representing women factory workers. I worked alongside artist Silvina Soria at London Sculpture Workshop to make the piece.
