A National Lottery Heritage funded project by Everything to Everybody and supported by The Hive. I supported a women’s group from Restore to visit Birmingham Shakespeare Memorial Library and take inspiration from artists prints and illustrations held in the collection such as a set of colourful illustrations by Jean Cocteau dating from 1926 including stage and costume designs for Romeo and Juliet and also the bindings and reliefs of Sentiments and Similies of William Shakespeare by Henry Noel Humphreys dating back to 1857.
I facilitated workshops which allowed participants to respond creatively to the archive material through mono-printing and metal embossing techniques. The outcomes produced are on exhibition in a collaborative exhibition between ‘Everything to Everybody’, Restore Birmingham and The Hive from 8 December until 25 February 2023 in the Shakespeare Memorial Room at the Library of Birmingham.
